Catholic Rallies Past Baseball

WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Catholic University scored nine runs in its final two at-bats to upset No. 25/25 Shenandoah University 15-11 in non-league baseball action Wednesday evening.

Shenandoah (19-8) held a 10-6 lead going into the eighth before the Cards (19-10) roughed up Hornets closer Cameron Lundmark in the eighth and ninth.

Lundmark (0-1) saw CUA score three runs in the eighth on x hits to bring itself within striking distance and then erupt for six runs in the ninth.

Catholic sent 10 men to the plate in the ninth and scored four runs with two outs.

Lundmark allowed seven runs on four hits and four walks in 1 1/3 innings of work.

Despite the five run deficit, SU mounted a rally in the ninth and had the tying run at the plate when the game ended.

Chris Nee (1-1), who pitched the final two innings for the visitors, got J.J. McDaniel to fly to deep left center to end the game.

The Hornets had 17 hits in the game, including four by first baseman Dan Powers and three from leadoff hitter John Wilt.

The top six hitters in the Shenandoah lineup all had at least one hit and five of the six posted at least two.
