SWEET BRIAR, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's tennis team earned its first-ever ODAC victory Wednesday afternoon with a 5-4 win at Sweet Briar.
Shenandoah (4-7, 1-7 ODAC) took a 2-1 lead after the doubles portion thanks to wins at Nos. 1 and 3.
Shannon Allin and Molly Barb were 8-2 victors in the top match while Amber Lake and Rachel Gross won 8-6 at No. 3.
The Hornets then clinched with wins in the top three singles matches.
Allin, at No. 1, had the match-clinching win with an 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 victory over Sarah Manter.
Barb joined her as a double winner by taking out Glory Bowman 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2.
Amy Rapp had the other victory, winning 6-3, 6-0 over Mary Elise Dugan at No. 3.
The Nos. 4 and 5 matches were decided after SU had clinched.
Shenandoah is back on the court on Friday afternoon in a non-league match against Southern Virginia.
