YORK, Pa. – Host York College of Pennsylvania rallied for a 4-3 non-conference field hockey victory over Shenandoah Tuesday afternoon.
Shenandoah (3-4) led 2-0 early in the second half thanks to a pair of Ashley Cross goals, but could only watch as the Spartans (2-3) stormed back into the contest.
YCP, trailing 2-0 after Cross scored her second of the game at 37:24, tallied at 39:18 and 41:26 to tie matters at 2-2.
Sophomore Kelani Bailey gave the Hornets the lead back with an unassisted goal at 43:04 only to see the Spartans rally for a second time.
Kailey Brewer tied it again for the hosts at 52:47 before Katie Petrillo scored the eventual game-winner off of a penalty corner at 56:18.
Shenandoah would have one more excellent chance, on a penalty corner in the final minute, but YCP was able to come up with a defensive save to preserve the victory.
York outshot SU 24-6 with Hornets goalkeeper Sarah Clare making six saves.
Shenandoah is off until hosting Washington & Jefferson on Sunday in another non-conference contest. Game time is 2:00.
