WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University volleyball team snapped a four-match losing streak Wednesday evening with a 3-0 non-league sweep of Gettysburg.
Shenandoah (6-6) won at 20, 23 and 22 over the Bullets (7-6).
GC appeared to be prepared to extend the match to a fourth set as it led by as much a five points and was up four, 17-13, midway through the set.
The Hornets had an answer, however, scoring four straight points with Rachel Cerretani at the service line to tie it at 17-17.
The two teams stayed within two points of each other until Shenandoah finally closed it out by scoring the final three points of the match.
Jasmine Callahan had the match-clinching point with a service ace.
Sophomore Blake Parkes paced the victors with a match-high 10 kills with Rachel Gross adding eight and Haley Smith seven.
Sarah Gorski had eight kills and Laura Bergin seven for the Bullets.
Hannah Bentz paced the GC defense with 14 digs while Gross had 12 and Taylor Anderson 10 for SU.
The Hornets continue non-league play this weekend with a tri-match at Stevenson.
