Dickinson Shuts Out Hockey

WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University fell 3-0 to Dickinson College Tuesday night in the Hornets final non-conference field hockey contest before ODAC play starts on Friday.

Shenandoah (4-5) faced a strong offensive effort from Dickinson (5-2) in the contest as the Red Devils took 24 of the game's 29 shots.

DC took all 16 shots in the first half as it took a 2-0 lead into the break.

Alyssa Stillwell scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 23rd minute when she deflected an outside shot from Maddie Groves into the top of the net.

Only an 11-save first half effort by Hornets goalkeeper Sarah Clare kept the game within reach.

Clare finished the game with 14 saves.

SU was able to put more offensive pressure on Dickinson in the final 35 minutes, taking five shots to the Red Devils eight, and forced DC keeper Katy Schlechtweg into making three saves.

Dickinson also had a 15-1 advantage in penalty corners.

Shenandoah opens up ODAC play with a 4:00 home contest Friday against defending champion Lynchburg College.
