GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Shenandoah University volleyball team completed its week by splitting a tri-match at Guilford College Saturday.
SU (8-9, 2-3 ODAC) opened the day with a 3-0 ODAC sweep of the host Quakers (6-9, 2-3) before being swept in a non-league match against Piedmont.
Shenandoah won at 21 and 16 in the opening two sets before outlasting GC 32-30 in the decisive third set of the opening match.
Junior Ashleigh Tanis had the match-clinching point for the Hornets on a kill off of a Jasmine Callahan set.
Two of Tanis' classmates, Samantha Schambach and Rachel Gross, paced SU with 10 kills each while senior Haley Smith added eight.
Tanis' final kill was her eighth of the match.
Callahan had a match-high 30 assists with Taylor Anderson contributing a match-high 17 digs.
Gross, on the strength of 10 digs, had a double-double.
Piedmont (14-1) won a 19, 15 and 21 in the Hornets second match of the day.
Gross again led the offense, this time with nine kills, while Callahan had five to go along with a match-high 24 assists.
Senior Katy Griffith, who had 13 digs against Guilford, had a team-high 11 versus Piedmont.
Coach Jaime Terenzi's squad continues ODAC play with a 7:00 home match Wednesday against Washington and Lee.
