Hockey Routs Hood

FREDERICK, Md. - Shenandoah University won its second straight field hockey match in impressive fashion with an 8-0 non-league victory over Hood College Tuesday afternoon.

The Hornets (2-0) scored four goals in each half to easily dispatch the Blazers (0-2).

Sophomore Tori Finney had what proved to be the game-winner, scoring off of a rebound of a Lauren Kesler shot just 3:21 into the contest.

Sarah Brock and Liz Grover scored unassisted goals in the 14th and 30th minutes before freshman Taylor Little converted a Finney assist at 33:34 to give SU the 4-0 advantage heading into the break.

Lauren Mills had two of the four second half goals, one on a rocket from the top of the circle on a penalty corner in the 59th minute and the second by roofing a 15-yard shot with 1:15 remaining.

Kelani Bailey and Ashley Cross rounded out the second half scoring.

Sarah Clare had to make just one save in the opening 55:30 before turning it over to Katelyn Gregory to finish off the shutout.

Shenandoah outshot Hood 44-2 and had a 14-4 advantage in corners.

SU is back in action at home on Saturday at 2:00 against Stevenson.
