WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University field hockey team saw its two-game season-opening winning streak come to an end Saturday with a 3-0 non-league loss to Stevenson University.
The Mustangs (3-1) scored one goal in each half to down the Hornets (2-1).
Caitlin Dempsey had the first two tallies, scoring in the 22nd minute off a Brooke Few assist and in the 53rd minute unassisted.
Allyson Moody closed out the day's scoring with an unassisted goal at 64:47.
Stevenson outshot its hosts 16-10 and also took five of the game's nine corners.
Shenandoah goalkeeper Sarah Clare had seven saves.
The Hornets are back in action on Tuesday at McDaniel.
