ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Salisbury University used a pair of four goal runs Saturday afternoon to power an 8-0 men's soccer victory over Shenandoah in the opening round of the Seahawk Classic hosted by St. Mary's of Maryland.
The Sea Gulls (4-0) scored a pair of goals in the opening 11:14 and never looked back against Shenandoah (0-4).
After scoring at 10:00 and 11:14, Salisbury took a 4-0 lead into the halftime locker room thanks to goals at 34:56 and 35:40.
The Gulls kept up the pressure in the second, scoring in the 51st, 64th, 80th and 85th minutes to complete the victory.
Hornets goalkeeper Rodrigo Casteriana make five saves in the losing effort.
Salisbury had a 32-3 advantage in shots and 6-2 in corners.
Shenandoah completes tournament play tomorrow with a 3:00 game against host St. Mary's.
