ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Host St. Mary's (Md.) scored a pair of late goals to down Shenandoah University 2-0 Sunday afternoon in the final game of the Seahawk Men's Soccer Classic.
Matthew Braun knocked home a rebound of his own missed shot in the 74th minute to give SMC (2-2) the decisive goal over the Hornets (0-5).
Another loose rebound, this one in the 83rd minute, provided the 'Hawks with an insurance tally.
St. Mary's outshot SU 27-8, including 18-3 in the second half, while the two teams split eight corner kicks.
Shenandoah goalkeeper Rodrigo Casteriana had three saves.
The Hornets are off until opening ODAC play on Saturday with a noon home match against Guilford.
