HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – Host Hampden-Sydney used a fast start to Saturday's ODAC men's basketball contest to key an 83-49 victory over Shenandoah.

H-SC (10-5, 4-2 ODAC) scored 11 of the game's 13 points and never looked back against Shenandoah (10-5, 2-4).

The Tigers led 6-0 before Avery Green tallied the initial bucket of the contest for SU at the 15:53 mark, and then outscored the Hornets 8-2 in the next 95 seconds to stretch the margin into double digits.

Shenandoah would cut the deficit into single digits on just two more occasions and trailed 38-21 at the break.

H-SC extended the margin out to 33 points on two occasions, the last with 7:24 remaining, before providing the final margin of victory by scoring nine of the last 10 points of the contest.

Jimi Starks had 10 points and Green nine to lead the Hornets in the scoring column.

Hampden-Sydney owned a 48-31 advantage on the glass.
