WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Washington & Lee scored in the game's waning moments Wednesday to down Shenandoah University 2-1 in ODAC men's soccer action.
Sam Knapke converted a Cary Carabasi corner kick with 71 seconds to play to push W&L (9-3, 4-3 ODAC) past Shenandoah (4-10, 1-6).
Knapke's tally closed out a contest that featured the two teams trading goals in a 16-second span early in the second half.
The Generals struck first, scoring at 57:27 before Kevin Koklis redirected an Eduardo Santiago cross at 57:23.
The two teams continued the back-and-forth contest before Knapke was able to net the game-winner at 88:49.
W&L outshot SU 21-10 and took all eight of the corners awarded.
Hornets goalkeeper Matthew Poell kept his side in it with eight saves.
Shenandoah takes to the road Saturday evening for a 6 p.m. game at Guilford.
