Men Tie Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Shenandoah University men's soccer team earned its fourth point of the 2014 ODAC campaign by playing host Guilford to a 1-1 tie Saturday evening.

Freshman Brian Maye earned the Hornets (4-10-1, 1-6-1 ODAC) with his equalizing goal in the 88th minute.

Guilford (4-9-2, 3-1-1) had taken the lead eight minutes prior to Maye's goal on a Colin Dillon unassisted tally.

Maye's goal, his fifth of the season, came as the two teams played 10 vs 10 due to the Hornets' Loudoun Phillips and the Quakers' Robert Sandidge being issued red cards in the 83rd minute.

Guilford outshot SU 31-10 and took 11 of the game's 12 corners.

SU goalkeeper Matthew Poell had seven saves.

Shenandoah plays at Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday night in its final ODAC road contest of the regular season.
