HARRISONBURG, Va. – Host Eastern Mennonite scored single goals in each half on its way to a 2-0 ODAC men's soccer victory over Shenandoah Wednesday evening.
The Royals (7-8-2, 4-5 ODAC) scored in the second minute to take a lead they would not relinquish over SU (4-11-1, 1-7-1).
Jake Lind, who scored that initial goal just 94 second in, added an insurance tally in the 54th minute to provide the final margin of victory.
The Hornets battled for the entire 90 minutes, and outshot EMU 12-7 in the second half, but could not find the back of the net.
The two teams split 36 shots with Eastern Mennonite holding a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Shenandoah goalkeeper Matthew Poell made three saves.
SU returns home on Saturday night for a 7:30 Homecoming contest against Hampden-Sydney.
