WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University field hockey team ran its winning streak to six matches with a 4-1 non-league victory over Frostburg State Tuesday afternoon.
Shenandoah (8-4) scored two goals in each half to cruise past Frostburg (5-7).
Freshman Moriah Woods gave the Hornets the early lead when she finished off an Ashley Cross feed in the seventh minute.
After the Bobcats answered back in the 28th minute, Kelani Bailey scored the first of her two consecutive tallies just 1:45 after the FSU goal.
Junior Presha Merritt assisted on Bailey's first goal and classmate Sarah Brock on the second.
That second goal, in the 39th minute, came off a penalty corner, as did the final goal of the game for the hosts.
This time, Brock inserted to Tori Finney, who ripped her shot just inside the right post for the final goal of the game.
Shenandoah owned a 14-12 advantage in shots and took eight of the game's 13 corners.
SU goalkeeper Jenna Rampale had to make just one save.
The Hornets are back in action on Saturday in a 2 p.m. ODAC contest at Washington and Lee.
