WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Gettysburg College took advantage of a cold shooting tonight for Shenandoah in a 52-34 non-conference women's basketball victory Monday evening.

Shenandoah (5-3) shot 18 percent from the field (11 for 63) to the Bullets 47 percent (23 for 49) in dropping the non-league tilt.

Despite missing 14 of its first 15 shots and shooting just 10 percent (3 for 30) in the first half, SU found itself in the game with Gettysburg (8-0) thanks to a 15-6 run midway through the second half.

Trailing 33-16 following a Jessica Porter jumper at 15:14, the Hornets scored 15 of the game's next 21 points to cut the deficit to eight, 39-31, with 5:46 remaining.

The squad was able to keep the deficit at this margin for the next 65 seconds before GC iced the game by closing out the contest on an 11-1 run.

Gettysburg led for 35:53 of the 40 minutes, taking the lead for good on a Sara Graham layup with 14:39 remaining in the first.

The two teams had traded the lead twice and were tied on two other occasions prior to Graham's layup.

Freshman Breya Wallace paced SU with 11 points with Holly Chittenden adding eight points and seven rebounds.

Porter had a game-high 14 points for the victors while Jenna Swope had 12 of the Bullets 47 rebounds.

GC used a 17-rebound bulge on the Hornets offensive end to fuel a 47-34 rebounding advantage for the contest.

Shenandoah is now off for final exams and the Christmas holiday. The Hornets return to action December 29 by taking on host Lehman in the Lehman Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament in New York City.
