VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Host Virginia Wesleyan kept its all-time men's basketball record against Shenandoah perfect with a 93-74 ODAC victory Wednesday evening.
The Marlins (18-6, 11-4 ODAC) have ran their all-time record against SU (12-12, 4-11) to 16-0 with the 19-point win.
Wednesday's contest was the only regular season meeting between the two squads this winter.
The Hornets, who found themselves down just two midway through the first half, trailed 47-39 at the break.
CJ Rudisill, who had 15 points, and Avery Green, who finished with a game-high 28, had back-to-back 3-pointers for SU early in the second to cut the deficit to eight, but coach Rob Pryor's club would get no closer.
Khory Moore answered with consecutive 3's just 26 seconds apart and the Marlins never saw their lead dip below 10 points again.
Moore's first 3-ball ignited a 13-2 run that saw the hosts' lead balloon to 19 points. The bulge eventually reached 25 points by the 3:16 mark before the Hornets finished the game on a 10-4 spurt
In addition to Green's 28 and Rudisill's 15, Jared Carithers had 16 points for Shenandoah.
DJ Woodmore, the second leading scorer in the ODAC (to Green), had 27 for the hosts.
SU shot 43 percent for the game and saw VWC hold a 40-34 advantage on the boards.
Shenandoah completes its regular season on Saturday at Randolph. Opening tip is scheduled for 4:30.
