WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 19/26 Shenandoah University hit a school-record six home runs on its way to an 18-7 non-league baseball victory over Franklin & Marshall Thursday afternoon.

Shenandoah (17-4) hit two home runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings on its way to the victory over the Diplomats (8-9).

With the wind blowing toward left field (opposite of its prevailing direction), Bridgeforth Field also gave up two home runs to the Dips.

The six dingers hit for the Hornets, two by Michael Paul and one each from Corbin Lucas, Dan Powers, Joe Bittner and J.J. McDaniel, breaks the previous record of five set originally in 1998 versus Columbia Union and last tied on February 27, 2011 versus Ferrum.

Paul's solo shot in the first inning extended his hitting streak to 23 games.

Paul, the current ODAC Player of the Week, finished his day 2 for 6 with four RBI.

All nine SU starters had at least one hit in the game with Billy Arens finishing his day 4 for 6 from his leadoff spot.

Powers, Bittner and Andrew Creamer matched Paul with two hits each.

Senior Andrew Zarobila (2-0), the first of seven pitchers on the day for the Hornets, earned the win. Zarobila, by pre-arrangement, threw the opening 3.0 innings and struck out three.

He did not give up a run and scattered three hits.

Eric Bateman took the loss for F&M. Bateman (1-1) allowed eight runs (three earned) on seven hits in 3.0 innings.

Shenandoah returns to ODAC play on Saturday with a doubleheader at Virginia Wesleyan. First pitch is set for noon.
