VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The No. 15/21 Shenandoah University baseball team got another outstanding pitching performance Sunday in a 4-1 ODAC victory at Virginia Wesleyan.

Shenandoah (26-6, 15-2 ODAC) saw senior starter Vince Claudio (6-1) scatter five hits over 7 1/3 innings to help the Hornets finish off the season sweep of the Marlins (12-20, 6-11).

Sophomore Garrett Wooddell, who came on with runners at first and second and one out in the eighth, retired five of the six hitters he faced to earn the save.

Wooddell only allowed an infield single with one out in the ninth.

With the game tied at 1-1, SU pushed across three runs on two hits and one VWC error in the eighth to provide the final margin of victory.

Junior Michael Paul drove in what proved to be the game-winning run with a sacrifice fly to center. Nolan Overby followed with an RBI single and eventually scored the game's final run by stealing home.

Overby stole home as part of a double steal with Daniel Freshley.

Shenandoah had eight hits in the game with Freshley finishing the day 3 for 3 and Paul 2 for 2.

SU plays its final ODAC doubleheader of the season on Tuesday at Washington and Lee.
