WINCHESTER, Va. - The No. 15/21 Shenandoah University baseball team ran its winning streak to five games Tuesday afternoon with a 7-1 non-league victory over Frostburg State.

Shenandoah (23-5) scored single runs in the second and third before breaking it open against Frostburg (19-7) with three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

The offense was more than enough for senior Vince Claudio (5-1), who allowed the one run on six hits and three walks in 7.0 innings.

Claudio struck out five before turning it over to classmate Cody Vorous for the final six outs.

The Hornets banged out 13 hits in the win, including three from leadoff hitter Billy Arens and four from Corbin Lucas in the No. 2 spot.

Lucas sandwiched singles in the third and eighth around doubles in the fifth and sixth to help coach Kevin Anderson's club pull away.

Senior Andrew Creamer had a bases clearing two-out double in the fifth to break the game open.

Catcher Daniel Freshley finished his day 2 for 4 and had an RBI double in the second.

Shenandoah continues non-league play with a game at Elizabethtown on Wednesday.
