ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Host Elizabethtown College used a six-run seventh to key a 10-2 non-league baseball victory over No. 15/21 Shenandoah Wednesday afternoon.
The Blue Jays (11-10) broke open a 2-1 game with the six-run outburst and pulled away from Shenandoah (23-6).
E-town sent 11 men to the plate in the frame and scored the six runs on four hits, a walk and three hit batters.
Until this point, SU starter Phillip Morse (3-2) was cruising, having only allowed a pair of unearned runs and having retired 11 of 12 batters from the end of the first until the middle of the fifth.
The Blue Jays opened that seventh by seeing the first two hitters reach HBP before Morse gave up a single and a walk to end his day.
Junior Matt Riegler came on and struck out the first batter, putting the Hornets just one out from getting out of the frame, only to see Elizabethtown have its next five batters reach safely and put the game out of reach.
Junior Michael Paul, who finished 2 for 4, had a solo HR in the eighth to account for Shenandoah's final run.
The dinger is the eighth of the season for Paul.
Billy Arens matched Paul with two hits while Andrew Creamer had an RBI double in the fourth.
SU returns to ODAC play on Saturday with a doubleheader at Lynchburg.
