WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University kept its ODAC volleyball record perfect on the season with a 3-0 sweep of Bridgewater College Friday evening.
The Hornets (9-4, 2-0 ODAC) won at 16, 18 and 15 over the Eagles (4-8, 1-1), needing just 65 minutes to close out the victory.
The closest set was the second, as BC jumped out to a 6-2 lead and held the advantage until Shenandoah scored five straight points midway through the set to take an 18-15 lead.
Senior Rachel Gross, who had eight kills for the victors, was at the service line for this run.
After closing out the second thanks to a bad Bridgewater set, SU scored the first three points of the third and pulled away at the midpoint of the final.
Gross was again at the service line, finishing a three-point run with a service ace that gave the Hornets a 15-12 lead and forced a BC time out.
Freshman Kaitlyn Kelley, who had a co-team-high nine kills, finished off the match with two consecutive kills.
Kelley's classmate, Elizabeth Lamont, matched Kelley with nine kills.
Rachel Cerretani had a match-high 33 assists.
Shenandoah hosts Eastern Mennonite Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
