Women Trounce Vixens

WINCHESTER, Va.  –  The Shenandoah University women's soccer team earned its second ODAC victory of the season by downing Sweet Briar 5-1 Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Elizabeth Bellido scored just 2:26 into the contest to give SU (2-5-1, 2-0 ODAC) a lead it would not relinquish.

The Vixens (4-1, 1-1) made matters interesting by cutting its two-goal deficit in half on a Leyte McNealus goal in the 43rd minute, but Shenandoah proved too difficult.

The Hornets came up with renewed energy in the second half, scoring in the 47th, 57th and 72nd minutes to provide the final margin of victory.

Junior Danielle Burris, who had scored the second goal of the game for SU, had the initial two tallies of the second for the victors.

Burris and Kati Richardson set up the final goal, by Alysha McCleaf at 71:46.

The Hornets took 32 of the game's 34 shots and all nine corners awarded.

Nicole Pratt had the only save of the game for the hosts. All three keepers played with Pratt's 45 minutes topping the list.

Shenandoah is back in action on Wednesday in a 4:15 ODAC contest versus Randolph-Macon.
