WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Marymount University outlasted Shenandoah 3-0 in non-league volleyball action Wednesday evening.
The Saints (15-2) won 28-26, 25-19, 25-21 over the Hornets (10-5) in a match that never saw either team take greater than a six-point lead over the other.
Shenandoah held leads in all three sets, leading as late as 21-20 in the first, 10-9 in the second and 17-16 in the third before falling to MU.
Marymount used a strong hitting performance, .247 on the night including .304 and .308 performances in the final two sets, to key the victory.
SU hit .133 for the evening with a high of .231 in the second.
Junior Allie Pieper had a match-high 11 kills for the hosts with Brandi Griffith adding 19 digs and Rachel Cerretani 24 assists.
Hannah Steger had 10 kills for the Saints.
Shenandoah takes to the road this Saturday for an 11 a.m. ODAC contest at Roanoke.
