SALEM, Va. - Host Roanoke College sent the Shenandoah University volleyball down for the first time this season in ODAC play with a 3-1 victory Saturday morning.
The Maroons (13-5, 2-2 ODAC) won the opening two sets, both at 14, before Shenandoah (10-6, 3-1) answered with a 26-24 victory in the third.
Roanoke then clinched the victory with a win at 18 in the fourth.
RC held SU to just an .037 hitting percentage for the contest, including -.118 in the final set.
Freshman Elizabeth Lamont had a team-high eight kills for the Hornets with Blake Parkes and Kaitlyn Kelley adding seven each.
Brandi Griffith and Lamont paced the defensive effort with 17 and 16 digs, respectively.
The Shenandoah women continue this road trip on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. ODAC contest at Washington and Lee.
