Hockey Shuts Out Blazers

WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University earned its first field hockey win of the season with a 2-0 non-league victory over Hood College Wednesday afternoon.

The Hornets (1-1) scored both of their goals in the first half and held Hood (2-1) without a shot to earn the victory.

Sophomore Taylor Little tallied what proved to be the game-winner in the 10th minute before junior Lauren Mills added an insurance goal at 20:23.

Freshman Elizabeth Pardo assisted on Little's goal while junior Sarah Brock set up Mills on that second tally.

The SU defense was outstanding, allowing freshman goalkeeper Jenna Rampale to record her first collegiate shutout without having to make a save.

Shenandoah took all 29 shots in the game and also owned a 19-0 advantage in penalty corners.

HC keeper Jessica Sedgwick made 19 saves to keep her squad in it.

The Hornets take to the road this weekend for a 1 p.m. Saturday contest at Washington & Jefferson.
