Men's Soccer Wins Second Straight

FREDERICK, Md. - The Shenandoah University men's soccer team earned its second straight win with a 2-1 non-league victory at Hood College Wednesday afternoon.

Shenandoah (2-1) scored a goal in each half to dispatch the Blazers (0-2).

Junior Eduardo Santiago gave the Hornets the early lead with an unassisted goal in the seventh minute, and after HC brought the game back to level 19 minutes into the second, sophomore Nate Long netted the game-winner from the penalty spot with just less than 20 minutes to play.

Freshman Loudon Phillips set up Santiago for that initial goal.

Hood dominated possession, taking 19 of the game's 24 shots, but SU keeper Matthew Poell was up to the task by turning eight of the nine shots on goal he faced.

The Blazers also had six of nine corners won in the contest.

Shenandoah continues this non-conference run with a 1:00 contest at Washington College Saturday afternoon.
