HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University field hockey team maintained its spot atop the ODAC standings with a 5-0 league victory at Eastern Mennonite Wednesday night.
Senior Alana Meadows gave SU (10-4, 5-0 ODAC) all of the offense it would need with her unassisted goal 17:42 in versus the Royals (3-11, 0-4).
The goal was the second of the season for Meadows.
Whitney Ross scored unassisted just less than three minutes later and the Hornets took that 2-0 lead into the halftime break.
SU scored in the 42nd, 48th and 59th minutes to provide the final margin of victory with Elizabeth Pardo, Lauren Mills and Melissa DeiTos tallying those goals.
The goals for Mills and DeiTos are the first of the season for both women while Pardo's eighth leads the team.
The Hornets outshot EMU 23-5, including 17-3 in the first half, and had a 5-2 advantage in penalty corners.
Jessica Brown had to make just two saves in posting the shutout.
Shenandoah takes on another set of Hornets, No. 11 Lynchburg, on Saturday at 1 p.m. This game is also senior day for Shenandoah's Class of 2016.
