WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University volleyball team completed its perfect week with a 3-0 ODAC shutout of Guilford College Saturday afternoon.
Shenandoah (10-7, 3-2 ODAC) won at 19, 22 and 18 over the Quakers (4-10, 1-4).
SU had to rally in all three sets as GC took a three-point lead in the first, five points in the second and three in the third.
Freshman Caylin Harris did the damage in the initial set, serving nine straight points at the service line to turn a 16-14 deficit into a 23-17 lead.
Guilford took two time outs during the run in an effort to stop Harris to no avail. The Quakers had five attack errors during this span.
GC led by 13-10 midway through the second before Rachel Cerretani and Anna Gallup combined for a 5-1 spurt to give SU a lead it would not relinquish.
In the third, Gallup served seven consecutive points early, and after GC answered to lead 12-10, the Hornets took the lead for good as the Hornets took advantage of a pair of Quakers attack errors along with a Gallup kill.
Senior Allie Pieper had the match-clinching kill.
Kaitlyn Kelley had a match-high 10 kills with Pieper adding nine and Gallup six.
Gallup also had a match-high 10 digs.
Shenandoah hit .247 for the match to .023 for GC.
SU continues this homestand on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. ODAC contest against Washington and Lee.
