SALEM, Va. - The Shenandoah University field hockey team earned its fourth straight victory Sunday afternoon with a 3-1 non-league win over Ferrum College.
Playing on the same field where they had recorded an overtime victory over Roanoke College Saturday afternoon, the Hornets (4-4) scored the first three goals of the game in dispatching Ferrum (1-9).
Katelyn Curtis opened the scoring in the 12th minute off of a Kayla Alderman assist before Elizabeth Pardo tallied what proved to be the game winner with her goal just 88 seconds into the second half.
Alderman set up that goal as well.
Whitney Ross fed Jennifer Bonnell at 62:24 to give coach Ashley Smeltzer-Kraft's team a three-goal advantage.
Ferrum avoided the shutout by answering Bonnell's goal with one of its own 27 seconds later.
Shenandoah outshot Ferrum 45-6, including 26-1 in the first half, and had a 21-1 advantage in penalty corners.
Hornets goalkeeper Jessica Brown made both of her saves in the second half.
SU returns to ODAC play on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. home game against Randolph-Macon.
