WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University field hockey team ran its winning streak to five games Wednesday afternoon with a 3-0 ODAC shutout over Randolph-Macon.
Sophomore Elizabeth Pardo, who had the game-winning goal Saturday in a 3-2 overtime win at Roanoke, once again netted the game-winner for the Hornets (6-4, 3-0 ODAC).
In the 12th minute, senior Presha Merritt ripped a 10-yard shot that Pardo deflected in from right on the doorstep for the initial goal of the contest.
Barely six minutes later, Merritt drove a cross to the far post, where classmate Tori Finney redirected in for the insurance tally.
Senior Sarah Brock closed the book on the day's scoring with her unassisted tally 10 minutes into the second half.
The offense was more than enough as the Hornet defense held Macon (7-4, 1-1) to just four shots and three penalty corners on the day.
SU had 24 shots of its own, including 14 in the second half, and goalkeeper Jessica Brown had to make just three saves to post the shutout.
Shenandoah steps out of conference on Sunday for a noon contest at Wesley.
