WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team opened its 2015 season Saturday afternoon with an 18-7 non-league victory over Southern Virginia.

After SVU (0-1) scored the opening goal of the game at 13:09, Shenandoah (1-0) reeled off a 10-1 run to complete the first half and take total control of the contest.

Connor Bishop had the first two goals of the run for the Hornets with Jack Greaney, Stephen LaTona, Tilghman Sanders, Matt Petrie and Aaron Paul all scoring at least once.

Greaney and Paul both had two goals with LaTona matching that production in addition to dishing out three assists.

LaTona dominated the second half, scoring three more goals and fishing out two assists to give him a 10-point afternoon.

The SU lead reached 14 goals following a Chris Frazier to Casey Edsall tally to start the fourth before SVU scored four of the final five goals of the game.

Ten different men registered at least one point on the day for Shenandoah.

Goalkeeper Ben Judy went the distance, making 11 saves to earn the victory.

SU outshot the Knights 55-22.
