Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Quakers Stop Women

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Shenandoah University was held to a season low offensive output in a 65-25 ODAC women's basketball loss at Guilford College Saturday afternoon.

After the two teams traded the lead six times in the opening five minutes of the contest, Guilford (13-8, 7-5 ODAC) took total control of the contest by dominating the middle third of the contest.

Shenandoah (7-14, 3-9) saw the Quakers outscore SU 32-2 in the middle 18:12 of the game, turning a 7-6 deficit into a 38-9 lead.

Freshman Breya Wallace finally snapped the string with a layup in the lane with 15:35 to go; this was the Hornets first bucket in a 12:56 span.

Wallace' classmate, Kirstyn Arcata, had the lone Shenandoah basket during the GC spurt. She hit a jumper at 8:31 of the first.

The Quakers kept the pressure on following Wallace' layup, scoring 15 of the next 20 points to push the lead out to 37 points with 8:02 remaining.

That lead eventually reached 42 (with 3:53 left) before SU scored seven of the game's final 12 points.

Wallace paced the visitors with eight points while Arcata had six.

Anais Weatherly had 11 and Brittany Drew 10 for Guilford.

GC had a 47-32 advantage on the glass that translated into a 22-12 bulge on points in the paint.

Shenandoah returns home on Wednesday night for a 6 p.m. game against Eastern Mennonite. This is the opening game of an ODAC doubleheader with the SU men.
