WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team completed its non-league slate with a 19-4 victory over former USA South rival Ferrum.
The Hornets (6-3) jumped all over the Panthers (7-4) for nine of the game's first 10 goals.
After FC scored two of the final three goals of the first, Shenandoah scored three goals in the initial 4:53 of the second to begin the running clock.
This run, with three different women scoring goals for the Hornets, highlighted a 9-1 second half for the victors.
Ferrum's lone goal of the second came with 19:27 to play.
Nine different women scored goals for the Hornets, including freshmen Jackie Hemler and Tess Rivera scoring their first collegiate goals.
Four women: Britanny Arndt, Annie McCorry, Miranda Rudacille and Liz Bereit, had three goals each.
Bereit led this group with an additional two assists for five points while sophomore Becky Bove had two goals and two assists for four points.
Rachel Levy led the defensive effort with five saves. SU also caused 14 turnovers and broke the Panthers clear on six occasions.
SU outshot its former conference foes 25-12, had a 22-13 advantage in groundballs and won 16 of 24 draws.
Shenandoah is back in action on Saturday at Hollins in a 2:00 ODAC contest.
