Women's Lax Shuts Out Hollins

HOLLINS, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team pitched its first shutout of the 2015 season Saturday with a 19-0 ODAC win at Hollins.

Freshman Cortney Gensemer set up sophomore Becky Bove 90 seconds into the contest and Shenandoah (7-3, 3-1 ODAC) had all of the offense it would need against Hollins (0-7, 0-4).

The 19-0 win is the second straight shutout victory for SU over Hollins. Last season, the Hornets were 19-0 winners in Winchester.

Gensemer's assist was one of five she had in the contest, including four in the first 5:26 of the game as Shenandoah quickly took total control.

The Hornets got to the 10-goal mark with 19:06 to play in the first thanks to a Sabina Rasoulov unassisted goal and eventually led 15-0 by halftime.

Four different women: Averi Rosena, Tucker Hackett, Emily Kogler and Juli Carbone, scored in the second half. All four women primarily play defense and it was the first career goal for both Rosena and Hackett.

Rasoulov led the victors with three goals and three assists for six points while Gensemer had a goal to go along with her five assists.

Goalkeeper Rachel Levy made two saves in recording her first career shutout.

Shenandoah held HC to just two shots while taking 37 of its own and won 14 of 21 draws.

The Hornets return home for a Tuesday ODAC contest against Randolph. The opening draw is scheduled for 7 p.m.
