Roanoke Runs Past Men's Lax

SALEM, Va. – Host Roanoke College used a dominant second quarter to key a 21-6 ODAC men's lacrosse victory over Shenandoah Saturday afternoon.

The Maroons (8-5, 5-2 ODAC) scored all 11 goals in the second stanza to pull away from SU (4-8, 0-5).

The two teams traded the first two goals of the game, with Shenandoah knotting the game at 1-1 thanks to a Kyle Savage to Connor Bishop EMO goal at 6:43 of the first.

Unfortunately for the Hornets, this would be the squad's only goal until Tilghman Sanders fed Stephen LaTona, also on EMO, at the 13:36 mark of the third.

Roanoke scored 14 goals during the SU scoreless streak to take total control of the contest.

Shenandoah battled its hosts throughout the second half, with SU scoring five of the final 11 goals of the contest.

The Maroons outshot the Hornets 67-28, won 24 of 29 faceoffs and had a 52-34 advantage in groundballs.

Ben Judy had 18 saves in the losing effort.

Bishop and LaTona both had two goals for the visitors with Savage scoring one goal in addition to his assist.

Aaron Paul had the Hornets final tally.

Shenandoah is back in action Wednesday night in a 7 p.m. ODAC contest against Randolph-Macon.
