ALTOONA, Pa. - Host Penn St. - Altoona handed the Shenandoah University men's soccer team its first loss of the 2015 season with a 2-0 non-league victory Sunday afternoon.
The Lions (2-0) avenged Shenandoah's win last season in Winchester with the two-goal home triumph Sunday afternoon.
PSU-A scored in the 67th and 89th minutes to dispatch Shenandoah (3-1).
The loss snaps the Hornets four-match winning streak.
Seth Murrelle scored at 66:16 before Matthew Hibbs sealed the win at 88:42 for the Lions.
Matthew Poell had five saves for the Hornets in the losing effort.
PSU-A outshot SU 12-11 and had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Shenandoah returns to the pitch on Wednesday night in a 7 p.m. non-league home match against Marymount. This is the squad's final non-conference game before opening up ODAC play on Saturday at Hampden-Sydney.
