WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Marymount University scored a pair of late goals to down Shenandoah University 2-0 in non-league men's soccer Wednesday evening.
Marc Mendoza and Mynor Lopez scored in the 83rd and 86th minutes for MU (4-3) to provide all of the offense it would need over Shenandoah (2-2).
Mendoza tallied the game-winner as he corralled a loose ball in front and knocked it home from right on the doorstep.
The Hornets dominated the action, taking 19 of the game's 27 shots and two of three corners, but saw Marymount keeper Logan Cropper make seven saves to post the clean sheet and earn the win.
SU keeper Matthew Poell had one save.
Shenandoah travels to Hampden-Sydney for its ODAC opener Saturday night at 7.
