WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Dickinson College scored four minutes into overtime Wednesday afternoon to down Shenandoah 3-2 in non-league field hockey action on the Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium turf.
Catherine Perlmutter scored that game-winner for the Red Devils (4-0) at the 74:12 mark as she turned at the top of the arc and lofted a shot over on-rushing SU keeper Jessica Brown and into the middle of the goal.
Permutter's sudden victory goal snapped the second tie of the game.
Shenandoah (1-3) had taken the early lead on a Kayla Alderman goal in the 9th minute before DC tied it with exactly 15 minutes to play in the first half.
The Red Devils then went up 2-1 on a Kayla Bendinelli goal at 61:58 before the Hornets tied it with just more than three minutes to play.
Kelani Bailey threaded a long pass to freshman Whitney Ross, who tapped home the equalizing goal with just 3:14 to play in regulation.
Approximately five minutes prior to Bendinelli's go-ahead goal, SU had an apparent tally called back for an illegal touch.
Brown had seven saves in the losing effort.
Shenandoah outshot Dickinson 19-18 and the two teams split 20 penalty corners.
SU is back in action Saturday at 1 in a non-league game against Stevenson.
