Women's Soccer Stops Crusaders

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team turned in its third straight shutout victory Saturday afternoon thanks to a 3-0 non-league victory over Susquehanna.

The Hornets (3-5) struck twice in a span of 5:34 late in the first half to key the victory over Susquehanna (3-2-2).

Freshman Jordan Riser scored unassisted for SU at 37:07 before Anna Wilson finished off a Dornesha Cottoms pass at 42:41.

In the 73rd minute, freshman Rebecca Collimore had her team-leading fifth goal of the year to close out the day's scoring.

Shenandoah doubled up the Crusaders shots, taking 16 of the game's 24, while the two teams split four corner kicks.

Junior Erin Septer had five saves to record her third straight shutout and ninth of her career.

Septer has not allowed a goal in the past 311:50 of game time.

"We had a great team effort in today's win," coach Liz Pike said. "Every contributed in our last non-conference game of the season.

"Now it is time to go to work. We have lots of work this week to prepare for our first ODAC game next Saturday."

The Hornets are now off until opening ODAC play next Saturday at 4:00 against Virginia Wesleyan.
