GLASSBORO, N.J. – Ursinus College used an early goal to key a 4-0 women's soccer victory Friday afternoon over Shenandoah University in the opening round of the Profs Soccer Classic.
Mackenzie Groff scored off a Jeannie Jasinski assist just 14 seconds into the contest to give the Bears (2-0) all of the offense they would need against SU (0-2).
Shenandoah held Ursinus off the scoreboard for the next 53 minutes before the Bears scored the final three goals of the contest in the remaining 34:26 of game time.
UC scored in the 54th, 63rd and 90th minutes to provide the final margin of victory. The last goal came with six seconds remaining in the game.
Ursinus outshot SU 13-6 while the two teams split six corner kicks.
Hornets goalkeeper Erin Septer had five saves in the losing effort.
Coach Liz Pike's squad completes tournament play tomorrow with a 7 p.m. game versus tournament host Rowan.
