LEXINGTON, Va. - Host Washington and Lee used a big first half run to key a 70-45 ODAC women's basketball victory over Shenandoah Wednesday evening.

With Shenandoah (4-10, 1-4 ODAC) leading 8-4 following an Erin French layup at the 3:22 mark of the first, W&L (8-6, 3-2) answered by scoring the game's next 13 points over the next 2:24 to take a lead it would not relinquish.

Kanesha Foster briefly stopped the run with a jumper 24 seconds before the end of the first quarter, but the Generals were not finished.

Washington and Lee scored the final two points of the first and then outscored SU 18-6 in the second stanza to take a commanding, 37-16, lead into the halftime break.

Shenandoah battled in the third, only seeing W&L expand the lead by an additional four points before the two teams split the final 36 points of the contest.

Washington and Lee led by as many as 29 before SU scored the final four points of the game.

Foster paced the Hornets with 13 points with French adding 11 to go along with nine rebounds.

Emma Redding led four W&L players in double figures with 14 points.

The Generals shot 47 percent to 31 percent for SU and had a 37-29 advantage on the glass.

Shenandoah continues this road trip on Saturday with a 4:30 game at Guilford.
