GREENSBORO, N.C. - Host Guilford College completed the season sweep of its ODAC women's basketball series versus Shenandoah with a 68-51 victory over the Hornets Saturday afternoon.
The Quakers (12-2, 6-1 ODAC) outscored SU 14-6 in the opening stanza to take a lead they would not relinquish.
Shenandoah (4-11, 1-5), which was seeking its first-ever victory over the Quakers in six lifetime meetings, saw GC take that lead with an 8-0 run from the 4:30 to 1:23 marks of the first.
Sophomore Haley Urben snapped the run with her jumper 65 seconds prior to the end of the period.
Another run for the Quakers, this one 11-5, allowed the hosts to expand the lead to to 16 points by the 3:29 mark of the second.
Guilford eventually led by 17, 36-19, at the half.
The two teams then split the 64 second half points with GC outscoring SU 19-13 in the third and Shenandoah returning the favor in the fourth.
Freshman Shannon Kuhn paced the visitors with 16 points while Olivia Callan added nine.
Anais Weatherly had a game-high 17 points for Guilford.
GC shot 47 percent to 26 percent for the Hornets.
Shenandoah returns home Wednesday night in a 7 p.m. ODAC contest versus Virginia Wesleyan.
