Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Hoops Returns to Action

WINCHESTER, Va. - After a combined 103-hour delay, the Shenandoah University men's and women's basketball teams return to action tonight by hosting an ODAC doubleheader.

The SU men host Roanoke at 5:30 in the opening game of the double-dip with the women completing the night by taking on Hollins at 7:30.

Both games are a rematch of earlier contests. On December 10, the No. 24 Roanoke men erased a 16-point first half deficit to down Shenandoah 108-97 in double overtime.

Coach Rob Pryor's club had the final possession of both regulation and the first overtime, but was unable to make the game-winning shot.

The Hornet women claimed Hollins as its first victory of the season, winning 70-48 in Roanoke on November 17.

Sophomore Kirstyn Arcata had 21 points and freshman Shannon Kuhn 11 in that non-league win.

The victory was the sixth for Shenandoah in seven lifetime meetings with Hollins.

Jewellanna Parfitt paced the hosts with 18 points.

Hollins comes into tonight's contest with a 3-11 overall record and an 0-7 mark in the ODAC.

Shenandoah is 4-12 overall and 1-6 in the ODAC. Tonight's game is the first of three this week for coach Melissa Smeltzer-Kraft's club. SU travels to Bridgewater on Wednesday and Lynchburg Saturday.

The Roanoke men, picked one spot ahead of Shenandoah in the ODAC pre-season poll, are 14-2 overall and 6-1 in the ODAC.

The Maroons only loss since November 14 is a 100-92 home defeat to Hampden-Sydney on January 13.

Roanoke averages 99.9 points per game and has cracked the 100-point barrier in seven contests this season.

In that first matchup of the season, Cameron Smith had 30 points for the victors with EJ Baltimore pacing the Hornets with 19.

For fans unable to make tonight's doubleheader, both games will be streamed through the SU website.
