WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University field hockey team earned its second straight win Saturday afternoon with a 12-0 ODAC victory over Sweet Briar.
Nine different women scored goals for the Hornets (5-5, 2-1 ODAC) in the blowout victory over SBC (0-7, 0-2).
Shenandoah did not allow a shot or a penalty corner on the day while taking 39 shots of its own.
The Hornets also had 17 penalty corners on the day.
The 12 goals scored is the second most in program history, trailing only the 13 goals scored versus the College of Notre Dame on September 12, 2012.
Morgan Lingo got the hosts started with her goal off of a Maddie Price assist just 84 seconds in.
SU then scored goals in the 7th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 20th and 33rd minutes to take a commanding 8-0 lead into the halftime break.
Melissa DeiTos did most of the damage during this run as she registered a natural hat trick with goals at 13:28, 15:46 and 16:59. She also assisted on Sarah Reed's goal at 32:42.
In the second, Shenandoah scored in the 38th, 39th, 60th and 64th minutes to provide the final margin of victory.
For Kiera Lane and Aubree Carrasquillo, their goals were the first of their careers.
SU steps out-of-conference on Tuesday at 7 p.m. to host Ferrum.
