WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University field hockey team recorded its third straight victory with a 7-0 non-league shutout over Ferrum College Tuesday evening.
Shenandoah (6-5) has outscored its opponents 23-1 in the three wins, including 19-0 in the last two.
SU maintained control throughout the contests versus Ferrum (1-9), allowing the Panthers just four shots and two penalty corners.
The Hornets had 33 shots and 14 penalty corners of their own. Ten of those corners came in the first half.
Sophomore Kayla Alderman, who had two goals on the night, got the evening started by finishing off a Megan Stevens assist in the seventh minute.
Stevens closed out the first half scoring with her goal at 25:51; Taylor Hayes had that assist.
The goals came at a fast pace in the second as the hosts scored in the 41st, 46th, 48th and 54th minutes to turn the game into a rout. Four different women scored the four goals with Alderman getting her second of the evening at 40:29.
Melissa DeiTos, off of a Whitney Ross assist, closed out the scoring in the 64th minute.
Alderman finished with two goals while Stevens had a goal and an assist and Hayes two assists.
Shenandoah returns to ODAC play at Randolph-Macon on Friday night at 7.
