Tigers Shut Out Men's Soccer

WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Hampden-Sydney earned its first ODAC men's soccer victory of the season Saturday with a 4-0 win over Shenandoah.

Ryan Turner scored unassisted for the Tigers (6-5-1, 1-3-1) in the 27th minute to give H-SC a lead it would not relinquish versus Shenandoah (0-13, 0-5).

The goal, in which Turner ran onto a loose ball in the box and was able to beat Hornets keeper Keegan Fairchild, provided the difference in an otherwise even first half.

The two teams split 14 shots with Hampden-Sydney generating four corner kicks to the hosts two.

The Tigers pulled away in the second.

In the 56th minute, H-SC got a Robert Kerby to Cole Burton goal to expand their lead to 2-0. Almost exactly 10 minutes later, Landon Moss headed home a William Jackson cross for the 3-0 advantage.

Jackson then finished off the day's scoring with an unassisted goal in the 75th minute.

Hampden-Sydney outshot SU 15-11 and had a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Fairchild made four saves in 84:41 of action.

Shenandoah is back in action on Tuesday in a 4 p.m. ODAC contest at Bridgewater.
