WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's soccer team completed its home slate Friday afternoon with a 5-0 ODAC loss to No. 16 Lynchburg College.
The LC Hornets (11-1-3, 5-0-1 ODAC) got the game's opening goal on a Daniel Friedberg to Zach Thomas tally at the 2:14 mark of the first.
Lynchburg added three more goals in the opening 45 minutes to take a commanding 4-0 lead at the break. Thomas set up Fredy Flores in the 9th minute with Nate Berning and William Sherman scoring unassisted in the 31st and 45th minutes, respectively.
Keegan Fairchild, who along with classmates Francisco Nolasco, Eduardo Santiago and Phillip Stewart was honored prior to the game, had three saves in that opening half.
Fairchild gave way to Cory Thompson for the second half, and Thompson allowed a Nick Morgan goal in the 83rd minute in addition to making three saves.
LC outshot its hosts 16-5 and had a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Shenandoah takes to the road on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game against Eastern Mennonite.
