WINCHESTER, Va. – First-place Shenandoah University was dominant in a 6-0 ODAC women's soccer victory over Sweet Briar Friday night.
Shenandoah (13-4, 7-1 ODAC) took all 37 of the game's shots in downing the Vixens (1-13, 0-7).
Rebecca Collimore gave the Hornets all of the offense they would need at the 5:05 mark of the first when she knocked home a perfect cross from Alysha McCleaf.
In the 35th minute, senior Averi Rosena took a pass from classmate Anna Wilson and ripped her shot through SBC keeper Caroline Thomas' hands.
SU ended the first half with a 20-0 advantage in shots and took both of the corners awarded.
Just 2:02 into the second half, Emily Yergin set up Anna Wilson for the opening goal of the stanza. Wilson took her shot from the corner of the box and placed it perfectly into the right panel of the net.
Freshman Jenna Santoro scored her first career goal on a free kick in the 50th minute before Wilson set up Sara Fuller 68 seconds later.
Wilson netted her second tally of the evening with a nice individual effort in the 64th minute.
That goal, Wilson's fourth of the season, closed the book on the night's scoring.
Goalkeepers Erin Septer and Charlotte Evans shared a shutout for the second straight contest.
"The women were able to enjoy this homecoming night win and now its time to focus on Bridgewater," SU coach Liz Pike said. "Congratulations also need to go out to Jenna Santoro for scoring her first collegiate goal on her birthday."
Shenandoah completes the home portion of its regular season schedule with a 7 p.m. ODAC contest Wednesday versus Bridgewater.
