WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University volleyball team celebrated its annual Dig Pink Day by splitting a tri-match with Lynchburg and Lebanon Valley.
In the opening match of the day, the Hornets (12-14, 4-6 ODAC) downed Lynchburg (16-9, 6-3) 3-1 before falling to Lebanon Valley, 3-0, in the final match of the day.
Lynchburg swept the Dutchmen, 3-0, in the middle match with scores of 25-20, 25-23, and 25-15.
SU claimed the victory against Lynchburg by winning sets three and four at 21 and 12, respectively. The two teams split the opening two sets with SU winning 25-17 in the first and LC 25-23 in the second.
SU totaled double digit kills in each of the four sets in the match. Kaitlyn Kelley led the way with 12 while Emily Cheatwood and Caylin Harris added 11 apiece.
Senior Jasmine Callahan was the leader had 34 assists to lead the offense.
Shenandoah's libero, Nicole Shannon, had 12 digs in the victory.
Rachel Cerretani, Callahan, and Kelley each put down three timely service aces.
In the final match of the day, the Dutchmen (19-7) swept SU with scores at 20, 21, and 22.
Kelley again led the Hornets in kills with 11.
Callahan and Cerretani combined for 30 assist in the match with 17 and 13, respectively.
Regine Bumper was the leader defensively with 16 digs, while Callahan had 15 and Harris 12.
Coach Jamie Terenzi's squad is back on the road this Tuesday as they travel to our nation's capital to take on Gallaudet University in a 7 p.m. non-league contest.
